You CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

Time marches on as they say, we're 9 months into the year (already!), Christmas is around the corner and those New Year's resolutions are looming again. As we get older it can feel like time moves faster, as we pack our schedules with more things and the 'to do' lists never seem to get any shorter... We can get caught up in routine or find ourselves stuck in a slump, seemingly with nothing exciting to look forward to, or feeling uninspired, bored with our job and unhappy with how things are. While this happens to us all at some point, we have to dig our own way out, whatever we are going through, to keep re-inspiring, re-inventing and showing up for ourselves in order to live a life that feels fulfilling, whilst contributing to the world in some way.

One way to do this is keep learning new things. Keep challenging yourself, levelling up to growth by continuing to build skills, gain new insight and knowledge so you can meet your passions and desires with joyful enthusiasm instead of procrastination and excuses as to why you are not living the life you really want. Life is full of ups and downs, the road is not a straight line and along the way, hopefully we change, our interests change, we evolve and discover ourselves more deeply as we move through our journeys. If you look back on your own life, you'll find that your biggest challenges and difficulties have been the catalysts to where you have grown the most.

Most of you reading this know some of my life's story; from my teens into leaving school I was in hospitality and spent most of my twenties as a chef. I then found myself diving into the corporate world at the age of 28 and immersing myself in sales and management with BMW and MINI for 10 years. Only finding yoga in my mid-thirties, this then became my hearts calling, so I followed the deep rumblings within, took the risk, and started teaching full time from 2018. The road has been bumpy, but oh so fulfilling and I've changed and evolved in ways I never even imagined. So don't waste any of your precious time here on earth, every day is a gift, rise to your potential, follow your soul's calling. You're never too old to change!

I'll be taking the month of October off and am swapping the island vibes for the big city lights! I've been feeling the call to formalize some interests I've been exploring and working with on my own for a while, so will be taking a foundational Qigong training in Bangkok, then heading up to Chiang Mai/Dao to embark on Reiki level 1 & 2 training. Then I'm heading to Hong Kong to delight the senses with the sights and sounds of a different culture, and then back to Bangkok to explore more of this interesting city. So at 45 years of age, not quite "old" but more mature at least, I'm really looking forward to being a student and learning something new. ;-)

So my message for you today, is forget what they say... trust in yourself, your abilities, your effort, don't worry if you fail, let go of perfectionism, just go for it, and remember, that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

Thank you for reading and being here, I hope you find some inspiration and helpful guidance in what I share.

PS: We are all part of one big human family, everything is interconnected, so don't be afraid to ask for help, not only from your family, friends, people but also from God, the Universe, sky people or whatever you believe in. Put it out there, humbly, sincerely, from your heart.

"if parents want to give their children a gift, the best thing they can do is teach them to love challenges, be intrigued by mistakes, enjoy effort and keep on learning. That way their children don't have to be slaves of praise. They will have a lifelong way to build and repair their own confidence."
